splendid weekend rituals
I woke up softly this morning, started the day out with watching episodes of my favourite series and having a nice breakfast consisting of sandwiches with cheese and cucumber and a cup of tea. Now I’m playing (What’s the Story) Morning Glory loudly and moving forth like a bulldozer in my apartment. Restoring the apartment to default settings. It makes me feel good about myself.
Waking...

oh the autumn autumn autumn days
Today I went for a fika* with a friend. I was initially invited to join another friend for a museum visit, but declined as I didn’t feel up to straying too far from home. Despite this, it felt a poor choice to waste such a beautiful autumn day - I ended up calling up a friend who lives close by. It was a good choice.
We went to a local café, she had a coffee with milk, I a cup of hot...

look to the heavens, little pretty one, for there...
We had to remove one of our cats today. Or, moms. As I have the entire day, I’m mourning how this wonderful little creature, that has made me smile and love life more times than I can count for more than half my life, no longer can do so. Never again will do so.
I won’t ever be able to pat his black fur again. I won’t ever hear him talk again. I won’t ever be able to hug...

aeroporto
Few places are as airports. I’m sitting at London Heathrow. Terminal 5. Such an extraordinary terminal. Large, massive, important, international. Departing from here are flights bound for New York, Cape Town, Basel, Las Vegas, Aberdeen, Hong Kong, Istanbul, Toronto, Geneva, Warsaw, Amsterdam, Milan, Delhi, Lusaka, Paris and oh so many others.
People sleep on benches, others tap computer...

the continuous fever
Struck by book fever again. A Dance with Dragons is continuously exciting, but it’s nearing its end!
How will I manage when I have finished it? Are there any clues as to when book six is estimated to be released?
I need more. George R.R. Martin has quickly become one of my favourite authors. I’d best look into his other works.

a day with downton abbey
I might just have spent near a full day watching Downton Abbey. Such drama, such costumes, such sets, such intrigue! I want Matthew to marry pretty Mary, preferably today.
And the next season starts this Sunday! Cheer, cheer, cheer!

a dash of melancholy
Some people brand you for life. What if time could be turned back, lessons be learned earlier and life be rewinded to the point where mistakes were made and erase them.
I’m listening to the soundtrack of a chapter of my life, and though I can look back at what I was given with joy instead of mourning what wasn’t, I still wish I had been given more, commanded more. At a point it was...

the blanket of autumn
September has always been the mark of autumn, for me. I imagine leaves faIling to the ground, myself wandering amongst them, kicking at heaps of them… I was not disappointed this year. The very air breathes autumn, and when I went to work this morning, my breath was as visible as I love it to be. It’s just a matter of time until it spreads to the trees and the grass.
Autumn.

breadcrumbs
A bird hops up and down on a bench in a park. Next to it sits a girl.
As it hops, the bird longingly looks towards a trail of breadcrumbs.
The girl rises. The wind gets hold of her hair.
She wrestles with it, and a boy tumbles into her.
“Sorry.”
“It’s OK.”
The boy smiles and hurries off. The girl’s eyes linger.
The bird hops down on the ground. It hops...

THE DESCENDANTS
Alexander Payne is finally back! His first feature film since widely acclaimed Sideways (2004) is a drama revolving Matt King (George Clooney). After a boating accident, his wife is left on life support, and in order to re-connect with his daughters, he takes them on a trip from Oahu to Kauai to find answers.

gary oldman is back!
I can’t tell you how much I long to buy a ticket for a screening of this movie. Gary Oldman is finally back in a leading role where he truly belongs - with the elite. Tomas Alfredson, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch, John Hurt, Mark Strong, Alberto Iglesias, Hoyte van Hoytema, Jacqueline Durran among others… need I say more?
Unless you already figured out which movie...

bridesmaids
It was such a great movie. I loved it. My friend and I watched it and more or less died on the spot, over and over again. We laughed ourselves breathless, we laughed so hard we cried. If one is looking for a comedy, Bridesmaids is an excellent choice.
Among the best things about this movie, was the remarkable transformation Melissa McCarthy went through to play Megan. She was hardly recognizable...
